In Essonne, France, a TikTok financial influencer with over 40,000 followers was recently kidnapped by four individuals while on his way home. The incident has shocked the local community, as the kidnappers not only resorted to violence but also attempted to extort up to 50,000 euros in cryptocurrency. The police have intervened, and the case is being handled by the Organized Crime Investigation Department.
Kidnapping Occurred on the Way Home: Four Individuals Forcibly Took Victim into a Car
According to a report by Europe 1, the incident took place between late Friday night and early Saturday morning in Juvisy-sur-Orge, a suburb south of Paris. The 26-year-old victim, a cryptocurrency influencer with approximately 40,000 followers on TikTok, was preparing to return home when he was forcibly pushed into a stolen Renault Clio by four strangers.
Cryptocurrency Becomes Extortion Target: Kidnappers Demanded Fifty Thousand Euros
According to the police’s preliminary investigation, the victim was not only beaten but the kidnappers also demanded that he hand over 50,000 euros in cryptocurrency. The four individuals forced him to log into his cryptocurrency account to check the balance, only to find that the account held far less than they expected. They ultimately abandoned their extortion attempt and released the victim.
Medical Attention After Release: Victim Granted Six Days of Medical Leave
Despite not being successfully extorted, this kidnapping incident has still left the victim with physical and psychological trauma. He has currently been granted six days of “total work stoppage” (ITT) certification for recuperation and treatment. The case has been taken over by the Organized and Professional Crime Investigation Department of the French police. Due to the violent nature of the crime, the kidnapping, and the cryptocurrency extortion, authorities are treating it as a serious offense and are conducting a thorough investigation into the identities and motives of the kidnappers.
