Solana meme coin launch platform Pump.Fun announced on February 14 that its mobile application, Pump.Fun App, is now available on Google Play and the Apple Store. The logo features a green and white pill. This marks a significant innovation for the platform since it closed its live streaming services in November of last year. The platform has now transitioned to a mobile application, allowing retail investors to issue their own meme coins and place bets on meme coins for entertainment purposes.
How to Use the Pump.Fun Mobile Application
Registering for the Pump.Fun application is straightforward; users simply need to enter their email to create a new account, which can be linked to an existing Phantom wallet. Pump.Fun emphasizes the free and rapid issuance of meme coins, and users can create their own watchlists to track the latest trends of their favorite meme coins.
Pump.Fun App Registration Steps
1. Download the application from the iOS Store or Google Play.
2. Open the application, enter your email address to register a new account; Gmail can be used for registration. The system will send an email containing a verification code to the registered email inbox. After opening the email, note the verification code and return to the downloaded application to enter the code, allowing you to create an account. Once the account is established, you can input a nickname of your choice. Note that Pump.Fun will bind to your email, requiring you to enter the verification code sent by the system each time you log in. Ensure that the email used for Pump.Fun login is functioning properly.
3. After setting up the account, open the user profile in the bottom right corner. The banner in the middle of the app has a “Deposit Now” button; clicking it will connect to your Phantom cryptocurrency wallet to transfer SOL. If you do not have Phantom, you can use the built-in link on your phone to download the wallet.
4. To issue a coin, go to the “Create a coin” section at the bottom of the wallet. Start creating your meme coin by uploading an image or video, and entering the coin name, ticker, and a text description. The ticker is the abbreviation for the cryptocurrency’s name, for example, Ethereum’s abbreviation is ETH. According to the author’s test, after uploading an image from an iPhone, naming their meme coin, and filling in the name, ticker abbreviation, and text description, the entire process took less than two minutes, making it very quick and easy. Furthermore, there is no need to transfer SOL coins when listing your own meme coin.
Note: The creation of meme coins is currently “not on-chain.” To move to the Solana chain, you must transfer SOL coins and complete the initial purchase process for the meme coin to be considered officially on-chain. Pump.Fun includes a disclaimer stating that Pump.Fun is “not” an exchange and does not provide any investment advice. Meme coins are not digital assets and have no inherent value. All transactions are processed through the platform’s Privy.io self-custody wallet, and Pump.Fun will deduct a service fee from each transaction.
Interestingly, Pump.Fun has a low rating on iOS, with only 51 reviews and an average of two and a half stars. Many negative reviews give one star, claiming that the Pump.Fun App is a scam and garbage. However, there are also numerous five-star reviews that appear to be artificially inflated, with those reviewers encouraging others to buy certain meme coins. This indicates that regardless of positive or negative sentiment, online reviews can be very unreliable.
