The final countdown to the US presidential election is underway, with both party candidates actively participating in interviews with various media outlets to express their political ideas. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump recently discussed his views on Taiwan’s semiconductor industry, US-China relations, immigration policy, and domestic energy policy in a podcast interview, openly criticizing fellow presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and the collapse of the American media. He also lavishly praised Musk’s contributions to technology and freedom of speech.
Trump criticized the US tech industry’s reliance on Taiwanese chips, saying, “The US is not proactive in the chip business. We spend billions of dollars to have rich companies borrow money to build chip factories here, and they don’t plan on giving us good companies. However, the US only needs to tax chips heavily to achieve the same effect as the automotive industry.”
He also said, “Taiwan stole America’s chip business, with 95% taken by Taiwan, and now they want the US to protect Taiwan? But they haven’t paid the US anything, even the mafia collects protection fees, but these countries that need US protection pay nothing.” Trump also mentioned pressuring NATO to pay their due “protection fees,” saying, “I made NATO countries pay billions of dollars, something no one could do before, even the NATO Secretary-General became a fan of mine.”
Trump suggested that the US government should not finance these chip companies to build factories in the US, instead raising import tariffs on chips. He stated, “Those chip companies are very rich, but because American politicians are so stupid, they let the chip industry flow to Taiwan. Now we want to revitalize the chip industry, and we shouldn’t burden taxpayers with the cost, but make these companies pay for it themselves!”
Regarding China, Trump referred to China as a “giant war machine” and warned of Xi Jinping’s “clever and dangerous” nature. Trump said, “China has been increasing military spending while seeking to expand its influence in Asia and globally, posing a threat to US interests.”
He emphasized the importance of energy independence and criticized Biden’s failure to control energy costs effectively. He supported nuclear energy and advocated for diversifying energy development.
Trump accused the US media of collapsing and using podcasts and other platforms as sources of truth, accusing mainstream media of bias and distortion. He praised Musk’s technological innovations and commitment to free speech, describing him as an “incredible genius.”
