Digital dollar USDC issuer Circle recently announced a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hong Kong Telecommunications (HKT) on October 29, aiming to leverage blockchain technology to create customer loyalty services and enhance interaction experiences with merchants.
Circle Provides Web3 Services, HKT Enhances User Engagement
Circle will provide support for Web3 services and optimize the security of blockchain applications. This includes core features such as “programmable wallets,” allowing merchants to easily integrate digital assets and smart contracts into existing applications, thereby offering users a novel interactive experience. HKT will utilize its extensive merchant network in Hong Kong and its accumulated experience in facilitating customer interaction and engagement to assist Circle in successfully implementing the loyalty program within Hong Kong’s merchant ecosystem.
Circle’s Programmable Wallet, Supporting DeFi to E-commerce
Circle’s newly launched programmable wallet bridges the complexities of private key security, blockchain node operations, transaction management, and cross-chain interoperability through abstraction, enabling developers to integrate cryptocurrency wallets into various applications. It allows for quick adoption of features such as cryptocurrencies and smart contracts, with dedicated secure wallet setups for different application scenarios, including DeFi, gaming, and e-commerce. Below are the highlighted features of Circle’s programmable wallet.
User-Controlled Wallet: Users can initiate transactions themselves and have complete control over asset usage.
Developer-Controlled Wallet: Developers can manage assets on behalf of users, suitable for providing services such as loyalty points or cryptocurrencies.
REST API and SDK Support: A diverse range of APIs and iOS/Android SDKs are provided to facilitate developers in accelerating development and customizing wallet interfaces.
Real-Time Transaction Updates (Webhooks): Constant notifications on transaction status enhance user interaction experience.
MPC Encryption Protection: All wallets are equipped with built-in MPC encryption technology, with infrastructure managed by Circle.
Cross-Chain Compatibility: Supports multiple blockchains (such as Ethereum, Polygon, and Avalanche), with plans to support more chains in the future.
Flexible Billing Model: Charges based on the number of active wallets, with unit prices decreasing as usage grows, and providing feedback incentives based on USDC usage.
