Nillion Announces Strategic Collaboration with Bahrain Telecom Giant stc Bahrain to Become a Partner of the Pearling Path Project, Advancing Blind Computation Technology Application
This collaboration will harness secure computing and decentralized data technologies to enhance data privacy protection and promote the global implementation of Privacy-Enhancing Technologies (PET).
Blind Computation: A Revolutionary Technology Balancing Privacy and Data Analysis
The core technology of this collaboration—blind computation—is part of Privacy-Enhancing Technologies (PETs) and aims to ensure that data privacy is not compromised while still enabling computation and analysis. This technology allows enterprises to obtain actionable insights without exposing sensitive data, providing innovative solutions for balancing privacy protection and data utilization.
In the first phase of the collaboration, stc Bahrain will operate a node on Nillion’s PETnet network. PETnet is a decentralized private storage and computing platform that employs technologies such as Multi-Party Computation (MPC) to ensure quantum-level secure storage and encrypted processing of data. stc Bahrain will also become the first telecommunications company to participate in the operation of PETnet nodes, providing computing power and security for the network.
Nillion Expands into the Middle East Market, Developing Application Scenarios
This collaboration is not limited to the Bahrain market; stc Bahrain plans to utilize Nillion’s blind computation network to develop scalable business applications and expand the technology to global markets through its Wholesale Division. This aligns closely with the technological innovation goals of Bahrain’s Vision 2030 economic development plan.
Saad Odeh, Director of Wholesale Business at stc Bahrain, stated: “We are pleased to welcome Nillion as a partner in the Pearling Path of our Web3 Launchpad project. Nillion’s privacy-enhancing technology and decentralized data solutions perfectly align with our vision for a secure, scalable, and interconnected digital future.”
Bahrain Data Embassy Act: A New Paradigm for Data Sovereignty
Bahrain has long been committed to promoting data privacy and sovereignty, and its Data Embassy Act is a global innovation in data management. Launched in 2018, this act allows foreign companies to store data in Bahrain’s data centers while still being subject to their home country’s data protection laws. This regulation has positioned Bahrain as a key hub for global data storage and protection, attracting numerous tech companies.
Through this act, Nillion and stc Bahrain will provide enterprises and individuals with more secure data storage solutions, ensuring that data privacy complies not only with local regulations but also with international standards.
Alex Page, CEO of Nillion, remarked: “Our collaboration with stc Bahrain enables us to leverage its global telecom network to showcase the potential of blind computation technology to a wider audience. By combining Nillion’s secure computing technology, stc Bahrain’s robust telecom infrastructure, and Bahrain’s Data Embassy Act, we are setting a new standard for global data management and privacy protection.”
stc Bahrain: A Leader in Bahrain’s Digital Economy
As one of the most innovative telecommunications companies in Bahrain, stc Bahrain, a subsidiary of the stc Group, has been driving the transformation of the local telecom industry since its market entry in 2010. The company actively invests in areas such as 5.5G, blockchain, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and mobile payments, launching the world’s first Web3 Launchpad project to accelerate the development of blockchain technology.
Additionally, stc Bahrain introduced stc pay in 2018, a digital wallet authorized by the Central Bank of Bahrain, contributing to Bahrain’s move towards a cashless society.
stc Bahrain has consistently ranked at the forefront of the Bahrain Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) quality reports, reflecting its excellent network coverage and high-quality services. As a core driving force in Bahrain’s digital economy, stc Bahrain continues to promote regional and global market development through innovative technologies.
Nillion: Building the World’s First Blind Computation Network
Nillion is the world’s first decentralized network based on blind computation technology, combining Multi-Party Computation (MPC) and Privacy-Enhancing Technologies (PETs) to enable the computation of sensitive data without decryption. Nillion believes that blind computation will become the foundational layer of privacy data on the internet, attracting innovators from various fields such as AI, DeFi, healthcare data, digital identity, cryptocurrency wallets, and communication to join its ecosystem.
Promoting the Future of Global Data Privacy and Secure Computing
The collaboration between Nillion and stc Bahrain represents a significant advancement for blind computation technology in the global market. Through the PETnet network, Bahrain’s Data Embassy Act, and stc Bahrain’s telecom infrastructure, this partnership will promote the application of privacy computing, data sovereignty, and decentralized technologies.
