Recently, Zhao Changpeng (CZ), the founder of the cryptocurrency exchange Binance, officially launched the paid communication platform Reachme.io, featuring a “Pay to Reach” model that allows users to send private messages to KOLs using BNB for efficient communication. This platform is not just an efficiency experiment for CZ, but could also become a pivotal turning point for Web3 social interactions.
Reachme.io: One Payment, One Message
CZ tweeted today that he published an article several weeks ago about the concept of “Pay to Reach” at Binance Square. After discussions and designs with the development team, the product named “Reachme.io” officially went live yesterday, and he even updated his personal profile on X to reflect this.
The official website of Reachme.io shows that the platform employs a simple yet innovative mechanism where users must pay a certain amount of BNB to send private messages to specific recipients such as KOLs.
Taking CZ as an example, he initially set the cost for each message at 0.04 BNB (approximately $24), but due to an influx of meaningless messages, he gradually raised it to 1 BNB (approximately $630):
“After the product went live, I immediately received a large number of spam messages like ‘yo,’ ‘how’s dinner,’ ‘check out this meme coin,’ ‘where’s the contract address?’ I really can’t reply to them all. Please don’t waste your money like this. I will continue to adjust the price until I can control the daily message volume to around 10 messages.”
He added, “Most of the messages I receive are too short, or are broad questions like ‘How to run a successful startup?’ which I really don’t know how to reply to.”
Focusing on Efficiency and Value: Key Features of the Platform
Reachme.io emphasizes efficient and meaningful conversations. The platform currently supports only text messages, and recipients can flexibly set the message price. Once the payment is made, a private chat window with the recipient opens, requiring the same payment amount for each reply, and messages will be automatically merged, without retaining paragraph spacing.
Moreover, the fee distribution mechanism is cleverly designed: the recipient receives 45% as basic income from each message, and if they reply, they receive an additional 45%, with only 10% going to the platform. If the recipient does not reply, 50% is refunded to the sender. This design not only protects the questioner but also encourages replies.
At the end of his message, CZ also hopes users will refer to his “Communication Tips” published in 2019, encouraging each questioner to introduce themselves and present their needs in a concise manner, to improve conversation quality and communication efficiency, and reduce the burden of lengthy messages on KOLs.
Anti-Scam Reminder: No Token Issuance Plan
As part of the Binance ecosystem, Reachme.io fully integrates BNB as the payment medium. It is important to note that the platform has publicly stated that there is currently no token issuance plan, reminding users to be cautious of scam messages.
