Palantir (PLTR) has risen from a government internal tool developer to a globally known AI defense technology company, primarily due to its focus on high-barrier clients such as the CIA and the military since its inception, addressing data integration challenges that most enterprises struggle with.

As geopolitical tensions rise, along with increased risks of war and supply chain disruptions, Palantir’s AI decision systems now encompass areas such as battlefield operations, energy, epidemic reporting, and aircraft parts. Without relying on advertising, the company’s success is rooted in its robust technology, making it the designated defense technology supplier for the United States and its European allies. According to its financial report as of March 2025, PLTR’s annual revenue is projected to exceed $3.7 billion, with a year-on-year growth of over 30%, positioning it as one of the few AI software representatives to achieve both profitability and commercial viability.

Why is Palantir important? Four key reasons:

1. Pioneer of Battlefield AI:

Ukraine relies on Palantir to track the movements of Russian troops, while the U.S. military utilizes it for counter-terrorism efforts.

2. Trusted Entity in Geopolitics:

Amid the U.S.-China tech rivalry, the U.S. refuses to use Chinese software, and its allies follow suit. Palantir has become the designated partner for the CIA, NATO, and the Ukrainian government.

3. One-stop Solution for AI Modeling and Deployment:

Palantir’s Apollo platform enables AI models to be “deployed in seconds” to the front lines, functioning even in areas without internet access, such as battlefields, oil fields, or factories.

4. The Arms Dealer of the Software Industry:

With the Department of Defense and energy companies as primary clients, government spending remains stable even in economic downturns. Contracts typically span 3 to 5 years, making it a counter-cyclical software stock.

Three Main Product Lines: Battlefield, Factory, and Cloud Deployment

How does Palantir make money? Not by selling software, but by selling “AI strategic partnerships.”

Initial Stage:

There will be technical integration and engineering services, starting from organizing the client’s raw data.

Mid Stage:

Subsequently, revenue is generated through a subscription model and cloud usage fees.

Most government contracts are long-term, spanning 3 to 5 years, with a renewal rate exceeding 90%.

As of April 2025, the latest figures indicate continued growth.

Why can’t others replicate this? An introduction to Palantir’s competitive moat:

1. High Barriers for Data Integration:

Integrating radar, audio recordings, satellite imagery, Excel reports, and sensor data while allowing for permission levels and confidentiality protection.

2. Long-term Collaboration with Government:

For over a decade, Palantir has maintained deep collaborations with U.S. security agencies like the CIA, Pentagon, and FBI, making it challenging for competitors to penetrate.

3. Military to Commercial, and Commercial to Military:

Technologies developed for the battlefield can also be applied in factories, healthcare, and insurance industries, tracking supply chain disruptions or equipment anomalies, and vice versa.

Future Directions: AI Military, National Data, and New Defense Standards

1. More Contracts Renewed with NATO and the EU:

In the aftermath of the Ukraine-Russia war, European countries are strengthening their digital defenses, and Palantir is becoming a key supplier for NATO’s internal information analysis systems.

2. Apollo Becomes the Standard for Military AI SaaS:

In the future, AI may be deployed on battlefields, in oil drilling, and in factories, with many governments likely adopting Palantir’s deployment standards.

3. Foundry Will Integrate More Traditional Industries:

Healthcare, manufacturing, and insurance sectors aim to incorporate AI into their operational decision-making processes, tapping into civilian budgets.

As of the time of reporting, PLTR’s stock price has reached $92.62.

(Palantir CEO Karp: Silicon Valley tech talent must immediately engage with U.S. defense; AI and drones will dominate future battlefields.)

Risk Warning:

Investing in cryptocurrency carries high risks, and prices may fluctuate significantly, potentially resulting in a total loss of principal. Please assess risks carefully.
