According to previous reports, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the Digital Ruble Bill on July 24, and it officially took effect on August 1. The new law officially authorizes the Russian Central Bank to launch the first pilot of the CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency) to consumers in August. The Russian Central Bank will be the main operator of the digital ruble infrastructure and will be responsible for all stored assets. The purpose of the digital ruble is to serve as a payment and remittance method, and not for investment purposes.
