Taipei Blockchain Week kicked off today at the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei, featuring various activities and speeches. The opening ceremony was attended by Taipei Mayor Jason Wang, who emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship and introduced the DIGI initiative to promote Taiwan’s employment gold card for foreign applicants.
The event is co-organized by “BuZhiDAO” and “Taiwan Blockchain Enthusiasts Association (TABEI),” and was opened by their co-founders Tiffany Lai and Jacky Wang, welcoming participants from all over the world. Mayor Wang expressed his happiness to participate in this grand event as the mayor, having been invited to the first Taipei Blockchain Week last year. He mentioned his visit to Singapore to learn from their “2030 Smart Nation Plan,” which focuses on developing employment, the latest technology applications, and digital transformation. Mayor Wang hopes to bring these successful measures to Taipei.
Mayor Wang promised to make Taipei a startup-friendly and AI-driven city, and he hopes that this event will showcase the best of Taipei to more people.
Anita Chen, the Director of the DIGI Gold Card Community, introduced the Taiwan Employment Gold Card during the opening ceremony.
The Taiwan Employment Gold Card, launched in 2018, is a four-in-one card that includes a residence visa, work permit, Alien Resident Certificate (ARC), and re-entry permit. It is an open work permit with a maximum stay of 3 years and offers high salary tax benefits. The Ministry of Digital Development has set criteria to attract more foreign digital talents to Taiwan and contribute to the development of Taiwan’s digital economy.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has already obtained the Taiwan Employment Gold Card.
Anita reminded foreign participants that if they obtain the Taiwan Employment Gold Card, they will be eligible for subsidies for airfare and accommodation when attending similar events in Taiwan. The DGC booth at the event provides more information and services.
