MetaMask Team Announces Partnership with Robinhood to Provide Easy and Self-Custodial Crypto Purchases
MetaMask, in collaboration with Robinhood, has announced a partnership to offer users on the Robinhood platform a simple and self-custodial way to purchase cryptocurrencies, providing users with more options for engaging with crypto assets and enhancing the overall user experience. However, this service is currently only available to users in the United States.

Integration of MetaMask and Robinhood Connect
MetaMask aims to reach more users
Consensys and Robinhood have announced the integration of the Buy Crypto feature for their respective products, MetaMask and Robinhood Connect. Eligible users in the United States can now seamlessly purchase cryptocurrencies on MetaMask using their debit cards, bank transfers, or their Robinhood balances.
For Robinhood users, this integration allows them to continue using their familiar online purchasing methods and interface, ensuring the security of their assets, without the need to download and set up a MetaMask wallet account. It reduces user friction and increases control over their own assets.
MetaMask currently offers users the ability to directly purchase over 75 types of cryptocurrencies, providing Robinhood users with more options while complying with US regulatory requirements, making it easier to access Web3 applications.
This integration is part of MetaMask’s long-term goal to enhance Web3 adoption by providing a frictionless, secure, and self-custodial solution to more users.

In a survey conducted by Consensys in 2023, involving over 15,000 respondents, it was found that one-third of the participants considered the complexity of Web3 technology as the main barrier to entering the crypto ecosystem. Lorenzo Santos, Senior Product Manager at Consensys, stated that the integration between MetaMask and Robinhood is dedicated to reducing the friction users face when managing self-custodied assets, and by partnering with a trusted service provider that users already rely on, it offers more purchasing options, making it easier for more people to adopt cryptocurrencies in a simple and self-custodial manner.
