Software development company and long-term Bitcoin holder MicroStrategy’s Twitter account appears to have been hacked. On the morning of the 26th, several phishing links promoting the issuance of MSTR tokens were posted. Cryptocurrency investigator ZachXBT pointed out that the hackers made approximately $440,000.
MicroStrategy’s phishing announcement stated that they would issue Ethereum ERC20 tokens (MSTR) that would be integrated into the MicroStrategy ecosystem and backed by Bitcoin reserves.
ZachXBT revealed that the hackers made around $440,000.
Hacker address still has 62 ETH.
Renowned KOL Cobie believes that this scam has numerous loopholes, stating:
“I certainly don’t want to blame the victims, but if you think that after Michael Saylor’s famous statements emphasizing ‘no better asset’ and ‘no other choice’ over the years, MicroStrategy would still choose to launch ETH tokens, then your thinking is quite unique.”
