OpenAI has become a profit-driven tool
According to CourtouseNews, Musk officially filed a lawsuit against OpenAI on the evening of the 29th, claiming that the collaboration between OpenAI and Microsoft has undermined OpenAI’s original commitment to public, open-source Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).

OpenAI has become the largest closed-source technology giant in the world – a subsidiary of Microsoft. Under the leadership of its new board, OpenAI’s role is to maximize Microsoft’s profits rather than benefit humanity.
Demand for OpenAI to return to open source
Musk has made multiple allegations of contract violations, breach of fiduciary duty, unfair business practices, etc., and has demanded that OpenAI return to open source. He also requested the court to prohibit Gregory Brockman, Sam Altman, and Microsoft from profiting from OpenAI.
Sam Altman’s resignation drama is a coup
The lawsuit also mentioned Sam Altman’s resignation controversy in November last year. Musk pointed out that Sam Altman’s dismissal prompted Microsoft’s involvement and forced board members who attempted to dismiss Sam Altman to resign.
Musk stated:
The current board members are no longer scientists or researchers who support and understand the technology. The non-profit structure that OpenAI has carefully built has been replaced by a profit-driven CEO and a board of directors with low technical skills, who have also reserved an observer seat for Microsoft.

OpenAI has become a profit-driven tool
Musk was once an original board member of OpenAI but left in 2018 due to concerns that the development of GPT-4 and the next generation AGI could jeopardize public safety.
He believes that Microsoft’s control over Sam Altman and the OpenAI board will prevent the transformation of GPT-4 into AGI in order to maintain the secrecy and profitability of related technologies.
