Leading global cryptocurrency exchange and Web3 company Bitget has announced its participation in the 68th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68). This event is an important annual gathering focused on gender equality and women’s empowerment, and will take place in New York from March 11th to 22nd. Gracy Chen, the General Manager of Bitget, has been invited to participate as a representative in this event to emphasize the company’s commitment to enhancing women’s empowerment and promoting gender equality in the Web3 field. Gracy will also share personal insights and participate in discussions on how Bitget can contribute to promoting gender inclusivity in the technology and blockchain sectors.
Gracy emphasizes Bitget’s commitment to gender equality and states, “Enhancing women’s leadership capabilities and providing equal opportunities are the cornerstones of Bitget’s Blockchain4Her initiative. I am delighted to participate in the annual meeting of the United Nations Women’s Office, where we can share our insights and learn from respected leaders in this field. As a representative at this event, we will further optimize Bitget’s strategies to align our goals with organizations around the world and effectively drive gender equality and diversity in the cryptocurrency field.” Gracy Chen once again emphasizes Bitget’s commitment to promoting gender equality.
The 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women will focus on discussions regarding “accelerating gender equality and empowering all women and girls through addressing poverty and enhancing institutions and financing with a gender equality perspective.” United Nations statistics show that 0.3% of women worldwide live in extreme poverty, indicating the urgent need to accelerate progress to achieve the sustainable development goals by 2030, along with a required investment of $360 billion.
Bitget’s commitment to gender equality is evident in its various initiatives, including activities and programs targeting women. Recently, Bitget’s research department conducted a study on gender equality, highlighting the gender disparity in fundraising for blockchain startups during the years 2022-2023. The report reveals that blockchain startups led by women only received 6% of the overall funding, with women-led startups accounting for 8% of the total.
In January of this year, Bitget launched the Blockchain4Her initiative, with a $10 million investment aimed at promoting gender diversity and inclusivity in the blockchain industry, attracting several female industry leaders to join the program.
Bitget’s core value lies in envisioning a more equitable future world through the development of Web3 and cryptocurrencies, empowering different groups regardless of cultural background, economic status, age, or gender. Bitget has taken a proactive stance in promoting inclusivity in the Web3 field, serving as an example for female opinion leaders to emerge as rising stars in the blockchain industry.
