In response to the recent disaster caused by the Hualien earthquake in Taiwan, Binance Charity will airdrop BNB tokens worth up to $1 million to Binance users in the affected area (approximately NT$32 million).
User eligibility will be based on the user’s Binance Know Your Customer (KYC) address and Proof of Address (POA) in the impacted Hualien region (13 townships in Hualien County). Binance users who have completed KYC or POA before April 5, 2024, will receive 120 USD worth of BNB directly into their Binance accounts. Additionally, existing users in the Hualien region who have completed account registration before April 5, 2024 (excluding April 5), and complete POA between April 5, 2024, and April 20, 2024, will receive 25 USD worth of BNB.
We expect the funds to be airdropped into eligible user accounts starting from April 8, 2024.
In recent years, blockchain and virtual assets have provided a new way for charitable donations, making the process faster, cost-effective, and transparent. It allows for direct delivery of funds to beneficiaries without the need for intermediaries or individuals. On the other hand, beneficiaries have greater freedom to decide how to use the funds according to their needs.
Richard Teng, CEO of Binance, said, “We are deeply saddened by the impact of the recent earthquake in Taiwan and hope to extend a helping hand to the affected people. For users who receive donations but are not affected by the earthquake, we also encourage them to pass on the funds to those who are in genuine need.”
At this critical moment, Binance stands with our users and community. In the past, Binance has provided assistance to users in Ukraine, Turkey, Morocco, and Libya.
