There was a virtual currency robbery incident in Taichung, Taiwan, where a 31-year-old currency trader conspired with his 27-year-old friend to plan a fake transaction that turned into a real robbery operation. They successfully deceived and robbed a man of 3.3 million NTD in cash.

37-year-old Mr. Liao originally thought he was going to engage in a transaction involving Tether (USDT), but fell into a robbery trap. In his car on Meiqun Road in Dali District, he was suddenly attacked and forced to hand over the 3.3 million NTD he was carrying.
Upon receiving the report, the Wufeng Police Station immediately took action and quickly formed a task force to investigate. After identifying the vehicle used in the crime, Lin and Chen, the suspects involved, were arrested in a short period of time.

During the police interrogation, Lin revealed that the reason behind planning this robbery was because he was heavily in debt and had no other option.
This incident is not only the solving of a criminal case but also serves as a warning for the safety of off-exchange trading of virtual currencies. It reminds us to remain vigilant when engaging in any form of financial transactions and to conduct them through legitimate and secure channels as much as possible to avoid similar unfortunate events.
According to the latest list published by the Financial Supervisory Commission’s Securities and Futures Bureau on March 1st, there are a total of 25 operators who have completed the declaration of compliance with the Anti-Money Laundering Act. Operators not on this list are considered non-compliant operators.
