With the rapid development of internet technology and artificial intelligence, the forms of digital crime have become increasingly complex and diverse. Taiwan’s Minister of the Interior, Lin Yu-chang, announced today the establishment of a specialized “Digital Technology Investigation Research Center” in order to strengthen the technological investigation capabilities of the police force. The aim is to enhance the professional skills of police officers in the areas of technological investigation, digital forensics, and cybersecurity. In addition, the Police Academy has also launched the “Enhancement Program for Teaching Capacity of New Types of Crime” this year, which has successfully received a budget allocation of 260 million New Taiwan dollars from the Executive Yuan. This funding will be used to comprehensively strengthen the investigation and case-handling capabilities of technology-related crimes.
