The second ETHTaipei, held from March 21 to March 24, concluded successfully, attracting enthusiastic participation from over a thousand attendees. In addition to Ethereum founder Vitalik’s creative temple-themed appearance, which amazed the audience and sparked online discussions, the 40-hour hackathon also brought together over 300 developers from around the world to showcase their technical talents and innovative ideas. After days of hard work and in-depth discussions, the moment of unveiling the results finally arrived, with several projects receiving high recognition from the judging panel for their innovativeness.
The focus of this hackathon was to bring more innovative applications to Ethereum through Layer2, Privacy, and On-chain AI. Developers used their past development experience and cutting-edge technologies to bring new products and vitality to the entire ecosystem within three days. A total of 70 teams produced 56 projects, competing for over 2.3 million in prizes. After careful evaluation by the judges, several remarkable projects were selected.

Taiwanese Startups Receive International Acclaim
Among the nine Community Finalists, it was exciting and surprising to see two teams using the latest technologies from the Dencun upgrade to implement their products. This includes using Blob Data to make Layer2 applications more cost-effective in terms of fees, and utilizing Transient Storage to create better optimized ERC20 and ERC721. It demonstrates the Ethereum community developers’ understanding of the latest EIPs and their unique ability to apply them flexibly.

In addition, several teams from Taiwan stood out by creating end-to-end products in just three days. For example, ZicretPair developed an anonymous dating platform on the blockchain, Hiraijin created a QR code transfer system accepting on-chain assets, and Kage built a cross-chain privacy transfer service. These teams participated in the Demo Day and received high attention, allowing developers from different countries to fully exchange ideas and create sparks of creativity.
Apart from the aforementioned projects, many other outstanding works emerged during this hackathon. These innovative projects not only showcased the participants’ technical abilities but also their enthusiasm and expectations for the Ethereum ecosystem.
This hackathon also received positive evaluations from sponsoring companies and international organizations. The judging team from Consensys commented, “Project quality was really competitive.” The Polygon team responded, “The quality of projects was mostly above average from a hackathon perspective.”
Overall, ETHTaipei 2024 Hackathon not only showcased the participants’ creativity and talents but also promoted technical exchange and community progress, bringing new momentum to the Ethereum ecosystem.
