Musk also mentioned that fake accounts have consumed a substantial amount of available namespace. Many good user IDs have been stolen. Currently, X has released over 1 million user IDs, and it is expected to release tens of millions in the coming weeks. However, once released, the army of bots will immediately occupy a large number of IDs.
However, the crypto community still considers the charging policy to be futile.
ZachXBT: Might Not Be Effective
Crypto detective ZachXBT is skeptical of this approach. Just with the recent airdrop of Wormhole, there were over a dozen experience-verified fake accounts. He pointed out:

this might have a little effect, and
emphasizes
that he really likes the speed of updates under Musk’s leadership at X. However, charging will stifle the growth of new users and seems not worth it.

that Musk underestimated the number of X users being scammed, and scam groups don’t mind spending a small amount to make big profits.
