AI Security Committee to hold first quarter meeting in May
The committee will hold its first quarter meeting in early May and provide recommendations to the secretary to ensure the safe adoption of AI technology in critical services. AI is rapidly entering the mainstream by 2023, forcing global leaders to scramble to develop regulations to address the new technology. In January of this year, the World Economic Forum (WEF) listed AI and quantum computing as one of the most urgent global risks.
DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said:
AI is a revolutionary technology that can advance national interests in unprecedented ways, but it also brings real risks. However, we can mitigate these risks by adopting best practices and other informed actions. I am grateful to these outstanding leaders for dedicating their time and expertise to the committee to help ensure that the United States effectively mitigates risks and understands the immense potential of this technology.
