Is the meme coin a “too advanced for you to keep up” or a “dumbing down of the cryptocurrency market”? Recently, we wrote an opinion piece titled “Stupid Evolution Theory | Meme Coins Become Mainstream, Replacing NFTs as the Gateway for the Masses.” Lately, there have been crypto communities expressing their dislike for celebrities jumping on the meme coin bandwagon, but there are also those who hold a different opinion.

@ColdBloodShill: Same as celebrities and NFTs
@blknoiz06: Celebrities are just misled
ColdBloodShill expresses dissatisfaction with the recent phenomenon of celebrities issuing meme coins. He believes that this behavior is predatory, with celebrities using the popular term “meme coin” to quickly earn money, similar to the previous crazes of “cryptocurrencies” and “NFTs.” He points out that celebrities who get involved in the cryptocurrency field usually do not succeed, and most of these projects disappear within a short period of time.

He believes that if celebrities genuinely want to enter this field, they should start like ordinary people by purchasing cryptocurrencies, exploring the field, joining the community, understanding and learning, instead of immediately launching tokens. He emphasizes that if celebrities launch tokens from the beginning, regardless of what they say, they should not be trusted. He hopes to see those who are genuinely interested in cryptocurrencies, rather than celebrities who only want to make quick money.
blknoiz06 holds a different opinion from ColdBloodShill. He believes that it is not fair to generalize and accuse celebrities who issue tokens. He points out that many celebrities are not the sole decision-makers and are often misled by their teams. These celebrities actually care about their fans.
He believes that it is better to engage in dialogue with these celebrities and make them understand the potential harm their actions may cause to their fans, instead of simply telling them to go away. This way, it will be easier to find positive ways for them to participate and contribute to this field.
Former President Trump strongly endorses cryptocurrencies, with a meme coin named after him experiencing a surge. Prominent media figure Caitlyn Jenner issues the meme coin JENNER, and rapper Iggy Azalea also joins the circle by releasing the meme coin MOTHER. These actions have further fueled the meme coin frenzy, similar to the early days of the NFT craze, where numerous celebrities recommended them.
It is believed that in the near future, there may also be Asian celebrities or key opinion leaders (KOLs) issuing their own meme coins to catch up with this trend. Whether this is good or bad, only time will tell.
