Apple announced its long-overdue artificial intelligence (AI) plan at the Apple Developer Conference (WWDC) on June 10. This includes Siri being able to use OpenAI’s ChatGPT feature when needed. Musk criticized this move as “unacceptable security violation” and stated that his company will ban the use of Apple devices internally.
Siri will be able to use OpenAI’s ChatGPT for free. Apple stated that Siri will ask users if they want to share their questions with ChatGPT. ChatGPT is also integrated into the system’s writing tools. For example, users can create a bedtime story for children and add images created by ChatGPT. Apple mentioned that these features will be free, users do not need to create additional accounts, and these requests and information will not be recorded.
This integration will be rolled out later this year in iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. Apple also mentioned that they will add other third-party AI models in the future.
In a series of posts on his social media platform X, Elon Musk expressed concerns about whether Apple and OpenAI can protect user information. He called the software integration between the two companies “unacceptable security violations” and stated that Apple simply “doesn’t know what’s going on”.
Musk also mentioned that if Apple integrates OpenAI at the operating system level, the use of Apple devices will be banned in his company. Visitors must undergo a check at the entrance and store their Apple devices in Faraday cages.
Faraday cage is a cage made of metal or a good conductor that can protect machines from electromagnetic interference and prevent eavesdropping.
Under Musk’s remarks, many loyal Musk fans are asking for the creation of the XPhone!
