ChatGPT has been a hot topic recently, not only launching a new version of GPT-40, but also collaborating with Apple. In the future, ChatGPT will be seen in Apple’s iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. How much does it cost to use ChatGPT now, and what are the different options available? Here is the breakdown from TechCrunch:

With continuous new features in ChatGPT, free users can access OpenAI’s flagship GPT-40 model, enhance responses through internet content, access the GPT Store, and ask questions using uploaded documents and photos. Users can also save chat preferences as “memories” and use advanced data analysis to analyze data from documents such as spreadsheets and PDFs.
Of course, the free version has its limitations, such as the daily capacity limit of the GPT-40 model. Once users reach this limit, they will automatically (albeit temporarily) switch to the less advanced GPT-3.5 model.
ChatGPT Plus
The paid version used by regular users, ChatGPT Plus, has a monthly fee of $20.
ChatGPT Plus has a capacity five times higher than the free ChatGPT and can access updated tools in advance, such as the OpenAI macOS client for ChatGPT.
Additionally, subscribers to ChatGPT Plus can access upgraded data analysis features based on the GPT-40 model, allowing the creation of interactive charts and tables based on datasets. Users can upload files directly from Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, or their devices for analysis.
ChatGPT Team is suitable for small businesses or management organizations, giving them multiple ChatGPT licenses and collaboration features. The monthly cost per user is $30 (monthly) or $25 (annual), with a maximum capacity of 149 users.
ChatGPT Team provides a dedicated workspace and management tools for team management. All users in the ChatGPT Team plan can access the latest OpenAI models and tools mentioned above, allowing ChatGPT to analyze, edit documents, and extract information. Additionally, ChatGPT Team allows team members to create and share custom applications based on OpenAI models (similar to applications in the GPT Store). These applications can be customized for specific use cases or departments, or adjusted based on team data.
ChatGPT Enterprise
Enterprises with more than 149 users must choose ChatGPT Enterprise. OpenAI has not disclosed the price of ChatGPT Enterprise, but reports suggest a monthly cost of around $60 per user for a minimum of 150 users, with a 12-month contract.
ChatGPT Enterprise adds “enterprise-level” privacy and data analysis features, enhanced performance, and customization options on top of regular ChatGPT. It includes a dedicated workspace and management console with tools for managing how employees in the organization use ChatGPT, including single sign-on, domain verification, and dashboard integration to display usage and engagement statistics.
As part of ChatGPT Enterprise, shared conversation templates allow users to create internal workflows and bots using ChatGPT, while OpenAI’s API platform allows companies to create fully customized ChatGPT-driven solutions as needed.
ChatGPT Enterprise customers also have priority access to OpenAI’s professional knowledge models and product lines, including dedicated customer teams and training. They are eligible to sign commercial partnership agreements with OpenAI, a legal requirement for companies wishing to process private health information such as medical records using tools like ChatGPT.
This is a version of ChatGPT built specifically for university students, faculty, researchers, and campus teams. Pricing is not disclosed.
ChatGPT Edu is similar to ChatGPT Enterprise, with the difference being that it supports SCIM, an open protocol for simplifying cloud identity and access management. OpenAI plans to introduce SCIM to ChatGPT Enterprise in the future. Like ChatGPT Enterprise, ChatGPT Edu customers can access data analysis tools, management controls, single sign-on, enhanced security, and the ability to build and share custom chatbots.
This solution provided by OpenAI for nonprofits offers a discounted price for eligible organizations.
Nonprofits can access ChatGPT Team at a price of $20 per user per month. Larger nonprofits can receive a 50% discount on ChatGPT Enterprise, equivalent to around $30 per user.
However, the eligibility requirements are quite strict. While nonprofits from around the world can apply, OpenAI currently does not accept applications from academic, medical, religious, or government institutions.
